"WHILE LIVING IN SELDOVIA, ALASKA, a painting student who was moving away asked if I would buy her watercolors. Much to my delight, a tiny bottle of octopus ink was included in the box. The ink stayed in the box for over six months and when I finally decided to try it, octopus ink immediately became a favorite medium for portraits, landscapes, florals, and old trucks.
"AN ALASKAN FISHERMAN and his wife continue to send me the ink. Octopus are used by fishermen as bait when halibut fishing.
"TO USE THE INK, I dilute it with water and paint with it just as I do with watercolor. Octopus ink is permanent, and will not fade when exposed to light."
